Book Club Tuesdays: Get to Read!

In the picture: Bookclub flyer for our HS Co op

With the vibrancy of the poster you can tell I am pumped and excited for our beginning readers’ club! Such a big milestone masha Allah.

After having done with the phonics and sight words and beginning reading very basic sentences last year. We did all the pre-reading stuff at a tender 4 ish, masha Allah. This year though we were in our summer vacations, I thought it is lovely to have a circle of kids who read the book together and then discuss it.

Therefore, I formed a bookclub for early readers ages 4 and up.

The early reader we are using: We are doing the Oxford Songbirds series by Julia Donaldson. There’s also some occasional “ahas” and lots of “wow” and “masha Allah-s” as Little O reads and do the after activities. Pertaining activities help build the literacy concepts and structure it. Peer reading also help evolve an educational environment the kids find a rhythm in.

Skills the kids get to breed:

We have observed;

– Kids get a vocabulary enhancement

– They write better

– They read better

– Critical and logical thinking

Little O is just finishing up stage 1, we cannot be more delighted alhamdulillah.

How are you going about in your reading journey and which series are you using for it?
