A little glimpse into what our December looked like. A lot of creative buildings were built through tiles. We got to cover stage 2 of the Phonics series. I found little one immersing more towards the curious science experiments invoking questions and for our supplement we used the Usborne 365 science activities’ book. Foaming fizzes, oil and water surface tension and object stress experiments.

With the literacy division, we covered stage 3 of the songbirds series. Kids got to know a variety of consonant clusters. The recognition, highlighting and identification of objects involving the same.

A significant milestone win occurred when our Lo joined and actually stood FIRST Masha Allah a 1 km race organised by the city council late this month, masha Allah. The greatest factor of this competition for us as parents inculcated in the fact that we wanted her to experience what it actually feels like. The integration of winning and losing and the whole idea of doing this on a recognised platform. Home education gives us the chance to tap the potential of our kids. It lets us drive things the interest-led-passion-driven way. Alhamdulillah.

December also means pleasant weather in the city, so we also got to make sand castles in the desert sand. Alhamdulillah. Playing with the natural minerals induces creativity, joy , learning through pretend play and of course creates calm in kids.

Nature Journaling
We also initiated long overdue nature journaling from our local park nature walks. It helps build our focus, imaginative creativity, calm and nurtured connection. All these attributes are essential in kinesthetic learning.

That’s all for December Alhamdulillah. Until next month, insha Allah.
