Introduction;
A topic of crucial importance is Time. We have been really curious to learn how the clock works. We have been touching this topic since our preschool years. Remember?
This topic now deserved a thematic unit.
It took around 2 weeks of learning that we spanned across all subjects! I am so glad we have finally finished it. Alhamdulillah.
I have listed all the resources we used in the end.
Mathematics;
We started from understanding about the faculty of Time in our mathematic lessons from Wolsey Hall Oxford. The five minute understanding of the clock is a prime factor in learning to read the time. Alhamdulillah we have now covered it. The study of analogue and digital clocks is also a topic not to miss. Our previous learning of time has also come really handy with this.

Exegesis of Suratul Asar
This was the perfect time for us to delve into the learning of Suratul Asar. We started of verse by verse understanding the root words A-s-r. We talked deeper onto the aspect that why humanity is in loss and the four prime success pillars Allah SWT has talked about in this chapter.
Prayer Times’s Craft
We then moved on to understand about the 5 prayer times and backed our learning with the Salah spin wheel craft.

Islamic History & Seerah
How could we not touch the beautiful seerah? Within seerah, we are still amidst the Meccan period, so this came appropriately linking the Time topic with making and understanding the consecutive events that had unfolded in the life of Prophet Muhammad PBUH. It was abit of work as we have not covered the seerah fully in depth and so I helped O in revisiting the older topics we had done the previous year and stories that we have read along and read aloud to put this in order.

Art
We touched on time as a factor encompassed in the orbiting of moon, what it actually is, what’s a hijri and a gregorian calendar, how the cluster of seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and year occur. What makes the conglomerate actually work. For understanding the completion of a month with respect to the orbit of moon around the Earth, we are working on our Moon Observatory and have linked it with the topic of time. As she thrives on lots of art integration to comprehend how things work. More on the observatory in a separate post , Insha Allah.
In art, we also explored the topic of time with a little deeper exploration. O titled this artwork as Friendship in space. We submitted this entry for Ithra’s time travel competition.
There are celestial bodies in a glittery cosmos and two spaceships who ‘meet’ in space and become friends. Dont ignore the tiny details she has made on her own Masha Allah. The intricacies of the planets and the detailing in a colorful mesmerizing space.

Allah’s Attributes
Working on compass require hand eye coordination and dexterity for little kids. The creation of circles was a bit challenging for O. Alhamdulillah she got through it.

We explored the six division circle and created a geometric tessellation to define Allah’s attributes of Al Awwal and Al Akhir.
