We recently started making our own moon phases journal. Last year, we studied about the moon phases and we have been SO intrigued that we have started our own observatory.

Making a moon observatory has helped us understand the different phases the moon goes through each day. Moon sighting has now become a ritual as we go out and spot Mr. Moon. We merged our lesson of moon phases with the thematic study of time.

I also helped O understand deeper by making a step by step moon phase for each day of the month. I used oil pastels for these.

We also made a moon phases’ spinner and the used this visual poster to help us in our reinforcement.

We even talked about the moon miracle in the early Meccan period , it helped backed our learnings from previous year. Alhamdulillah.

That was not the end, we merged our lessons learning about the sun, moon and the earth aswell. The rotations, the spinning and how all three works in unison, truely His creation.
